Ambala, March 31
THE ATMOSPHERE in the Ambala Sadar Municipal Council is all charged up as President Neelam Sharma faces a crucial no-confidence motion on March 31.
Levelling allegations against the president, 26 of the 33 councilors had submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner on March 13 saying she had lost the confidence of the House.
DC Samir P. Srow had convened a special meeting to take up the motion and asked the SDM to preside over it.
Cutting across party lines, 26 councillors held a meeting on March 29 and reiterated their resolve for the ouster of Sharma.
In the 31-member House, Congress has 13 members, BJP seven, Vikas Parishad five, and INLD three and there are three Independents. The local MP and MLA also have a right to vote and belong to Congress.
Ten Congress councilors are supporting the move against the party incumbent. Similar motions have been defeated twice despite three-fourth councilor
