BARNALA: The Barnala police have recovered the bodies of two engineering students who were allegedly murdered by their seniors on January 2.
One body, which bore a strangulation mark, was traced from Bhure Kubbe, while the other was fished out from near Talwandi. The bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination, even as a local court has remanded the three accused in police custody for three days.
Madhu Jha and Amit Kumar Sharma, B.Tech students of Baba Hira Singh Bhattal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lehragaga, had gone missing on January 2. On being informed by the parents on January 4, the police started an investigation. On Friday, they arrested Gwjit Singh, Baljinder Singh and Pritpal Singh, students of the institute, on the charges of abduction, murder and destroying evidence.
During the investigation, it was found that the accused had murdered their juniors as they intended to sell their laptop and mobile phone to get money for buying drugs.
SSP Harcharan Singh Bhullar said the accused threw the two students into the Kotla branch canal at Harigarh after giving them a soft drink laced with a poisonous substance.

those who commited this murder deserve a big punishment, how can u think you will live in peace after murdering someone. i hope this is a lesson for all those living in uni hostels to beware of even your closest friends!!!! be careful of what you drink and eat off anybody.
