BATHINDA: Bathinda is all set to become the first district in Punjab to have a judicial complex with air-conditioned court rooms and all modern facilities.
All the courts in the modern judicial complex have been equipped with CCCTV cameras and electronic display systems to show the ongoing cases. As an experiment, judges and lawyers will be provided with mikes.
Justice Mehtab Singh Gill of the Punjab and Haryana High Court will inaugurate the first block of the modern judicial complex, constructed at a cost of Rs 20 crore, on Saturday.
He will also inaugurate court complexes in Rampura Phul and Talwandi Sabo the same day.
The modern judicial complex will have sufficient space for court staff and waiting rooms for litigants with modern furniture. Two silent generators have also been installed to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
Besides a modern conference room and a library for judges, the judicial complex will have separate rooms for security guards and naib courts, besides a judicial lock -up and a ‘malkhana’. A rainwater harvesting system has also been installed.
“To work efficiently, a judge needs to have a congenial atmosphere with adequate infrastructure,” said a judge.
District and Sessions Judge Kuldeep Singh told mediapersons on Thursday that the Bathinda judicial complex would come up over 7.94 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 31 crore.
