BATHINDA: A wrongly parked car set off a scuffle between judicial staff and leaders owing allegiance to the Akali Dal at Talwandi Sabo on Tuesday.
An Akali activist, who police say suffered on epileptic attack, landed in hospital.
Two judicial magistrates were driving down from Talwandi Sabo to Bathinda for a meeting at the time. A Maruti Zen blocked the road near Verka chowk, where repair work was in progress. The staff got off to enquire about owners-Student Organization of India members, as per reports – to move the car out of the way. The Akali activists refused at which a scuffle ensued. On getting a call from a judicial officer, a police party led by Talwandi Sabo SHO Nazar Singh reached the scene. When the police tried to nab the ruling party activists, Prem Singh collapsed and was rushed to civil hospital.
No case has been registered thus far. SHO Nazar Singh confirmed the incident, but termed it a minor row over car parking. “No case has been registered as no written complaint has been received so far,” he said. The cop said the man admitted to hospital was undergoing treatment for epilepsy and may have suffered an attack during the scuffle.
