CHANDIGARH NEWS: HC Seeks Status Report On Ateek
CHANDIGARH: A Division Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the Punjab government to file a status report within a week on 13-year-old Mohd Ateek, the Pakistan boy caught at Attari railway station while travelling in Samjhauta Express on February 21. Ateek apparently had an altercation with his parents after they objected to his kite-flying. After being pulled up, he left home and went to a cinema hall. Later, he spotted some persons chasing him and to escape, entered a stationary train at Lahore railway station and fell asleep.
When the Samjhauta Express reached Attari, he was taken in custody.
Ranjan Lakhanpal, chairman of World Human Rights Council, had filed a petition seeking his release.
