CHANDIGARH: People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) president Manpreet Singh Badal has expressed his gratitude to the voters of Punjab for coming out to vote in such overwhelmingly large numbers.
“The high voter turnout shows the anger of the voters not only against the SAD-BJP government but also against the unhealthy five-year alternation of governments that Punjab has been witnessing for the past several years,” he said.
Claiming that the impressive turnout of voters was a clear indication that people wanted change, Manpreet said, “By voting in large numbers, youngsters have shown that there is a clear mismatch between their aspirations and what successive governments profess to stand for. I have been humbled by the love and affection showered on me by people all over Punjab. I don’t think there is an instance where a political party formed less than a year ago has emerged as a potent third front in state politics. The unflinching support of the common people has made this possible. The people of Punjab have, for the first time, found an option which they can call their own.”
