CHANDIGARH NEWS: Plea Against Plot Norms For Defence Personnel
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notice to the Haryana chief secretary and HUDA chief administrator on a PIL seeking quashing of restrictions on the size of plots for allotment to defense personnel of different ranks.
The petitioners, Hisar Ex- Naval Personnel Welfare Society, have stated that the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) had reserved eight sectors for defense and paramilitary forces personnel in various districts of the state.
However, a condition was laid that officers of the rank of colonel and above, or equivalent in the Navy, Air Force and paramilitary forces, would be eligible for 1 kana I plots, while officers below that could apply only for a 14 or 10-marla plot. JCOs and other ranks could apply only for a plot of 6 or 8 maria.
Terming the conditions arbitrary and ill constitutional, the petitioners sought directions to the Haryana government for not imposing such “discriminatory conditions” in future allotment of plots.
