CHANDIGARH: Former Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) chairman Dr K.C. Bangar, who was recently booked on the charges of corruption and cheating by the Haryana Vigilance Bureau, and six other accused, including Kalka MLA Pardeep Chaudhary, were granted anticipatory bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court here on Wednesday.
Bangar and others had been booked under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act for their alleged role in irregularities during the recruitment of senior lecturers (computer science and engineering) in the Technical Education Department in 2003.
According to the allegations, some candidates were selected even though they did not meet the criteria for the posts.
Punjab Advocate General Hardev Singh Mattewal and advocate Inder Pal Goyat, who represented Bangar, and other petitioners argued that they had been falsely implicated due to political reasons.
