CHANDIGARH: Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal’s orders to deputy commissioners to humour Akali workers and leaders, to the extent of handing down lists of names, has ruffled alliance partner, the BJP.
“The party feels that SAD and BJP as alliance partners are running a coalition government, not a private limited party,” a statement quoted the state BJP on Monday.
The statement came after a party unit meeting over the “DC dictate” and on the issue of the omission of BJP from the government’s ad campaigns.
MP Navjot Sidhu, Industries Minister Manoranjan Kalia, former state unit chief Prof Rajinder Bhandari, general secretary Ajay Jamwal, former ministers Balramji Dass Tandon and Madan Mohan Mittal attended the meeting summoned by stat party president Ashwani Sharma.
”An alliance can be run successfully only when both the partners meticulously adhere to the coalition dharma,” the statement further said.
“The BJP holds the prestige of Akali- BJP workers on equal footing and any attempt to undermine or differentiate between workers is unacceptable,” the party stated.
