FATEHGARH SAHIB: The Gurmit Sidhant Pracharak Sant Samaj alleged on Friday that Takht Sri Damdama Sahib jathedar Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh had violated the directions of the Akal Takht by not observing the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh as per the Nanakshahi calendar.
Sant Samaj president Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa, vice president Sant Sewa Singh Rampur Khera, general secretary Sant Hari Singh Randhawale and senior executive member Sant Lakhbir Singh said in a joint statement here· that the five Sikh high priests, according to a letter issued by the Akal Takht on December 30, 2009, had resolved to observe the birth and death anniversaries of Guru Gobind Singh as per the Nanakshahi calendar.
“Though Nandgarh was a signatory to the resolution, he violated the directions of the Akal Takht by openly praising and congratulating those who had observed the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh on January 5,” they said.
They have demanded that Nandgarh to clarify his stand on the Nanakshahi calendar issue.
