Ferozepur News: Food Supply Officer Among 7 Suspended
FEROZEPUR: District Food and Supply Officer Sukhdev Singh is among seven employees who have been suspended over alleged embezzlement of paddy worth Rs 7 crore.
As many as 1.91 lakh paddy bags out of 2.03 lakh allotted to Noor Rice Mill at Kasubegu village in Ferozepur by Pungrain were found missing.
Also suspended were Inspectors Swaranjit Singh, Malwinder Kumar, Ravinder Nanda and Baljit Singh and office clerks Kabul Singh and Rajan Even though Noor Rice Mill did not have basic infrastructure to run the facility, paddy in such huge quantity was stored there in violation of norms and regulations. The allotment orders were also not issued from Head Office, Chandigarh, reports said.
A case was registered against three owners of the rice mill but the “kingpin” had been spared, reports said.
