GURDASPUR: Farmers blocked traffic on the Batala-Shrihargobindpur road at Udhanwal village on Monday against the alleged non-purchase of paddy at the procurement centre at Udhanwal for a week. The ghoman SHO had to persuade the farmers to lift their sit-in. After that the Marked men started purchasing the crop. The farmers alleged that they had to sell their produce to private traders at Rs. 60 less then the MSP of Rs 1,110 per quintal fixed by the government. When contacted, deputy commissioner Mohinder Singh kainth told Hindustan times that he would look into the matter.
