JALANDHAR: The Federation of Associations of College Principals, Punjab and Chandigarh, has demanded the total implementation of the notification issued by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development on December 31, 2008. The Punjab government had partially accepted the notification on September 2, 2009.
The federation said that since the notification, which had called for an increase in the retirement age of teachers to 65 and amended various other service conditions, was a full package, it should have been implemented in entirety. “In not doing so, the Constitutional responsibility of the Centre with respect to maintaining standards in higher education is being diluted,” said federation president Dr. V.K. Tewari.
