Chandigarh, February 23
IN VIEW of the growing use of compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and fluorescent tube lights (FTLs) by consumers, the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has planned to design the disposal mechanism of the fused CFLs and FTLs for safe and environment-friendly disposal.
A spokesman said here today that the Nigam would provide doorstep pickup facility to the willing consumers if they offer minimum four bulbs for disposal.
The consumers would be required to inform the Bijli Suvidha Kendra of the area so that the fused CFLs or FTLs are collected.
He added that the unbroken fused compact fluorescent lamps will be stored in steel drums of adequate size at the sub-divisional level.
