NAKODAR: In A Dramatic turn of events, the Nakodar Nagar Council on Friday unanimously withdrew the requisition given by 11 councilors on November 23 to move a no-confidence motion against president Gurbachan Singh Dhiman.
The NC president had called a meeting attended by 15 councillors and Nakodar MLA Amarjeet Singh Samra. It was held under the chairmanship of SDM Igbal Singh.
Samra said the councilors had decided not to move a no-confidence motion for sake of development of the town.
Eleven members had given a notice to move the motion. It was signed by two councilors of the ruling combine, two of BSP and seven of Congress, besides the Nakodar MLA. The notice said the members had lost faith in the NC president due to abuse of power.
Dissident SAD Councilors Brij Bhushan Bhatara told mediapersons that samra was told by congress councilors Dharamveer Shastri, Ashwani Kohli and Sukhdev kaur that they would oppose the motion if moved.
Bhatara said the NC president promised Shastri to withdraw a petition challenging his election filed by his close relative.
