PATIALA: The Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) has chargesheeted 12 senior executive engineers posted as in-charge of Rajpura power division at different times since 2004.
The action follows the revelation of heavy power theft by an industrial unit in Rajpura, R.K. Welds, in a raid carried out in February.
According to the chief engineer (technical), all senior XENs who were posted in Rajpura since R.K. Welds became operational in 2004 had been found guilty, as they had failed to check the theft.
The PSEB had earlier suspended four engineers currently posted in the power division, all of who were subsequently reinstated. While a fine of Rs 2.05 crore was imposed on the stealing unit, none of its owners had been arrested, something that has been demanded by the PSEB Engineers Association.
