Chandigarh, February 26
SURESH KUMAR, Principal Secretary, Power & Irrigation, Punjab, said here today that the power situation in the state would remain grim till the ongoing projects were completed.
Kumar told members of the PHD Chamber that the state government was making efforts to ensure that the industrial sector did not suffer much due t9 power cuts.
He said the government would make a summer schedule for the paddy season and inform the masses about the power shutdown plan through advertisements and public notices.
Kumar echoed the PHD Chamber’s concern that power shortage had effects like unemployment and loss of revenue. He agreed that for industries situated in rural industrial zones, there should be no need of NOC from PUDA.
The Principal Secretary directed the chairman and other officials present to sort out administrative and operational issues at the earliest.
