RUPNAGAR: Nirmal Singh (58), a native of Mianpur village near here, was shot dead by robbers in Virginia State of the United States on Friday.
“Nirmal was closing the store where he worked, when around midnight; three per sons entered the store and demanded money. When he and a co-worker resisted, the robbers fired at them. While the co-worker managed to escape with an injured leg, Nirmal was shot in the chest and died on the spot,” she said, sobbing. The family received the news Friday afternoon.
While Ranjit lives in Mianpur village, their daughter lives in the US, and two sons in Canada and Kuwait. The body is unlikely to be brought to India, he added.
