DIRBA (SANGRUR): Chairmen of boards and corporations in Punjab would be appointed within a fortnight, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said on Friday.
Badal was talking to reporters at Dirba, where the three-day international kabaddi championship is underway.
The Akali party’s ties with alliance partner, the BJP, are irrevocable, he said, in reply to a question over the widening rift between the two over power tariff hike rollback. He attributed the hike in power tariff in urban areas and the industrial sector to the regulatory commission and said that the partners would sit together and work things out.
Refuting charges that the SAD was singularly focused on rural areas, Badal said the party was committed to bring rural and urban areas on a par.
Speaking at the event, Badal regretted the lack of adequate sports infrastructure nation wide.
He handed over a cheque for Rs 15 lakh for Dirba stadium revamp. The Dirba dispensary would be upgraded to a primary health centre without further delay and to a community health center from the next financial year, said the chief minister.
Lauding the services of SAD secretary general Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Badal said that Dhindsa had stood by him like a rock and contributed to strengthening the party.
At the kabbadi tournament, an infant venture, it was essentially Punjab players contesting in teams tagged as national and international clubs.
